It’s Tuesday afternoon, the 22nd of July 2008 and a strong rainstorm has just passed over Prague. Along with the marvellous fresh air it brought also a ceremonious atmosphere for the opening of the new LOUVRE building.

The LOUVRE building is part of the comprehensive Mayfield Galleries Project in the Prague suburb of Radlice. The Mayfield Gallery Project consists of three buildings. The first one is the LOUVRE Building. It will open its doors to the first tenant – the LUKOIL Company that will start using it as early as in September: The Housing Inspection Committee approved it on July 21st and already on the 22nd of July Lenka Šišuláková, the Executive Head of the developer company Mayfield, together with the representative of the supplier company of the construction – the Heberger Company, cut the opening ribbon.

The new Prague LOUVRE will offer more than 4,500 m2 of available rental space that include offices of the “A“ category, its own canteen/restaurant, sufficient underground parking space and a terrace on the roof. It is a standard convention for the buildings to have all the windows that open, regulated air-conditioning, structured cabling or the central reception.

LOUVRE is exceptional above all in its architectural concept that originates from the locality where it is situated. The architectural design of LOUVRE was prepared by the Chapman Taylor Studio and the structure strictly respects the surrounding nature with its height and the appearance of the façades.

And because we are talking about “Louvre,” the employment of the building should be also for the purpose of art. An exhibit of black-and-white photographs of the building became the first “deposit.” Their author is Radovan Šubín and coincidently, the pictures were taken one hot July afternoon just before a storm. This year’s summer was interwoven with many storms and we only hope that they bring many new tenants and happiness to the new beautiful LOUVRE building.
